This restored stone tower combines historic architecture with thoughtful modern updates. The multi-level layout preserves original details like exposed masonry and arched openings, while adding comfort through contemporary fittings. Set in open countryside, the tower has been adapted for vacation use, offering panoramic views and a sense of quiet isolation that speaks to its medieval origins.

From the seller :
The San Martín tower was built in the 17th century by Juan Antonio Díaz Trechuelo García de la Yedra, Grand Inquisitor of the Spanish Inquisition Tribunal in Logroño.

The property is located in Quintana de Valdivielso, in the province of Burgos, within the culturally and ecologically rich region of Castilla y León. The Valdivielso Valley is known for its medieval castles, towers and Romanesque churches — offering both scenic beauty and solitude. Surrounded by the Tesla and Tudanca mountain ranges and crossed by the Ebro River, parts of the valley are designated Special Protection Areas for Birds (ZEPA). The region also allows hunting (wild boar, deer, roe deer) and fishing.

The Watchtower

The tower rises approximately 15 meters (49 ft) over five levels, totaling more than 4,950 sq ft (460 m²):

  • Ground floor, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors each approx. 1,075 sq ft (100 m²)

  • Top floor approx. 690 sq ft (64 m²)

  • Floors 1–3 each include a balcony

  • The top floor opens to a large terrace with panoramic views across the valley

A tranquil inner courtyard of approx. 1,290 sq ft (120 m²) includes original stone basins and a decorative cast-iron fountain.

Additionally, the property includes 1,615 sq ft (150 m²) of land with planning permission for future construction.

Currently Operated as a Vacation Rental

The property currently operates as a holiday rental business (see: torresanmartin.com). Interested buyers are encouraged to explore the website to see the high standard of interior design and attention to detail in the restoration.

Expansion Plans for the Adjacent Palace

The adjacent former palace structure, currently used as a courtyard, comes with approved building plans to add up to 6,460 sq ft (600 m²) of usable space over four floors.
